For over a decade, in partnership with Capital Roots, the Mechanicville Housing Authority (MHA) has dedicated a plot of land providing a setting where people gather, meet their neighbor, make friends and dig their hands into the soil and plant a variety of their own flowers, fruit, vegetables and herbs at our Community Gardens located at Davenport Estates.
The purpose of the Community Gardens is to encourage local and fresh food production, reserve and create more green space, and build stronger communities. Community Gardens are also a great way to promote healthier lifestyles, relieve stress, beautify the landscape and provide opportunities for learning.
The Davenport Estates Community Gardens is an oasis for beginning and experienced gardeners, as well as visitors, who come to enjoy the beauty of the blossoms, corn stalks, pumpkin vines, sunflower, as well as a large variety of birds and butterflies.
