As a landlord your participation in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is voluntary. In fact, you have full discretion in tenant selection. You screen the individual or family in the Section 8 Program the same way you would screen an individual or family in the private market. Upon renting under the Program, the tenant, landlord and the Mechanicville Housing Authority have obligations and responsibilities. Think of it as a three-way partnership between all parties.
